The AUSA Sunshine Chapter held its Fall General Membership Meeting, 19 November, 2014 at the Radisson UCF Hotel. The invited guest speaker was SMA(R) Ken Preston who is currently serving as the Director of NCO and Soldier Programs at AUSA.
There were about 60 chapter members present and the program included remarks by Chapter President, Wells Barlow, a presentation by SMA Preston and awards presented to two members.
SMA Preston’s remarks focused on the value proposition of membership for Soldiers and the long term impact that sequestration will have on NCO and Soldier programs.
Wells Barlow highlighted some of the chapter accomplishments over the past year to include achieving Runner Up distinction even though the Chapter was moved to a higher membership class this past year. The Chapter remains successful due in large part to the outstanding support of more than 130 Corporate Member Companies and a great group of volunteers that continually strive to achieve great things for our Central Florida Soldiers and their families.
Finally SMA Preston presented the AUSA for Exceptional Service to Dr. James Blake, SES for his leadership and support within the modeling and simulation community and upon his retirement from the office of Program Executive Officer, Simulation, Training and Instrumentation. Also SMA Preston presented a Past President Pin and Certificate of Service to Ms. Debbie Berry for her accomplishments as Chapter President for the past two years.
